Flexible Exhaust Connector
Most front wheel drive vehicle engines are transversely mounted for compact packaging. This engine orientation results in larger engine movements and high levels of vibration being transmitted to the exhaust system, because the engine motion is perpendicular to the exhaust pipe. The best way to provide for motion, compensation, and isolate noise, vibration, and harshness (NVH) in exhaust systems is to use a flexible exhaust decoupler. The typical automotive exhaust system runs very hot and encounters an extremely corrosive and hostile environment. In addition, the range of motion between a softly mounted engine and exhaust pipe can be dramatic, especially with very little package room. Engineering a flexible exhaust connector demands careful attention to engine and chassis dynamics to ensure life-long durability. We have engineered millions of exhaust connectors to ensure life-long durability. The exhaust connector provides a leak-free connection, meeting new emissions standards, absorb engine rocking motions, and isolate vibration from the rest of the exhaust system, so passengers do not experience poor NVH. |
